Robert Cohen

Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Cohen is a seasoned medical device, pharmaceutical and biotechnology executive with a series of positions leading organizations with full P&L responsibility, and previous departmental management experience in virtually all functional areas, including international sales, R&D, healthcare services, M&A, corporate marketing, legal affairs and business & technology development, coupled with strategic oversight and planning positions.

He most recently was President & CEO of EmboMedics, Inc., an early stage medical device company developing resorbable, drug-loadable embolic spheres to treat, among other things, liver cancer.  In two years, Mr. Cohen reorganized and recapitalized the Company, redirected product development to advance quickly to FDA submission, and then sold EmboMedics to a larger medical device company.  Prior to that, he founded Miromatrix Medical, an early stage biotechnology device company with a patent-protected technology that enables the construction of fully biological human organs for transplant, and  grew the enterprise to a $90+ million valuation over seven years by technology development, creating and commercializing two products, extensive partnering and business development activities, regulatory and reimbursement success, and $31 million in fundraising.  

Before Miromatrix, Mr. Cohen built significant shareholder value as President & CEO of Travanti Pharma Inc. through technology, product and business development, followed by the successful sale of the company to  Teikoku Pharma five years after his arrival.  Mr. Cohen has held senior management positions with both large organizations (Pfizer Inc.; Sulzermedica; St. Jude Medical) and small enterprises (Miromatrix Medical; Travanti Pharma; Advanced Circulatory Systems [sold to ZOLL Medical]; Horizon Medical Products [public offering]; GCI Medical), as well as seven Board of Directors positions.  Diverse activities have included successfully taking a company public on the NYSE in a billion dollar offering, initiating and developing new products through to market, establishing a manufacturing facility in a foreign tax-friendly environment, a series of acquisitions, divestitures and licensing transactions ranging from several thousand dollars to almost one billion dollars, raising capital for early stage companies, and restructuring sales activities in Japan.  Mr. Cohen is able to leverage more than thirty-five years of clinical, distribution, executive, venture capital and investment banking relationships.

Outside of his efforts on behalf of Zomedica, Mr. Cohen’s  primary passion is his two boys and their families. Although his playing days are over, he is a big baseball fan, as well as an avid music enthusiast.  There were years of playing and coaching baseball in his past, as well as playing in and managing bands and writing original music. His favorite animal is Duke, a beautiful and loving Golden Retriever.


Ann Cotter, CPA

Chief Financial Officer

Ann has primary responsibility for planning, implementation, and management of Zomedica’s finance activities, including business planning, budgeting, forecasting and negotiations. She  served as the Company’s Vice President of Finance from August 2018 until October 2020, when she was promoted to her current role. 

Throughout her career, Ann has held various consulting, controllership and Chief Financial Officer roles for both private and publicly held companies and has public accounting experience in both audit and tax services. She served as Chief Financial Officer of American Fence Company, a fence rental, installation and manufacturing company, from April 2018 through August 2018. She has also served as Corporate Controller of ProMotion Technology Group, a digital solutions provider, from September 2014 through August 2017. Ann holds a Master of Taxation from Capital University Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Spanish from Capital University. She is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in Ohio since 1996.

Bruk Herbst

Chief Commercial Officer

Bruk joined the executive team in January 2017 and is responsible for leading sales, marketing, and customer support to execute the company’s commercial strategy and deliver results, including the launch of products currently in development.

Known as a highly accomplished and forward-thinking leader, Bruk excels in unifying teams to achieve common goals and deliver best-in-class products and services that positively impact both the customer experience and animal health. With over 20 years of experience and an acute understanding of the animal health market, he has honed his ability to achieve accelerated revenue growth, lasting customer relationships, and industry-leading results. Over the course of his dynamic career, he has successfully launched numerous veterinary products on behalf of global corporations and startup enterprises.

Prior to joining Zomedica, Bruk was Executive Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at i4C Innovations. Before that, he served as Executive Senior Director and Head of U.S. Sales at IDEXX Laboratories, where he was responsible for in-clinic and reference lab diagnostics, point of care solutions, information technologies, and digital radiography solutions. He has also held sales leadership roles in patient monitoring, pharmacy and diagnostics with Omnicare Specialty Care Group and Life Systems. Bruk holds a Bachelor of Science in business from the University of Arizona.

Outside of his quest for operational excellence and team building, Bruk enjoys spending time with his family, including his two daughters, one son, and dog, Mochi.

Greg Blair, MBA

Vice President of Business Development

Greg is a dynamic life sciences leader with experience across business development, commercial, product development and finance roles. He is responsible for building and executing an external innovation strategy to maximize shareholder value. 

Greg’s focus is on creating value-added partnerships and acquiring differentiated technology that helps Zomedica’s customers thrive in practice and supports their mission to enhance the veterinary care experience for pets and pet parents. 

Greg joined Zomedica from Elanco Animal Health, where he was known for his collaborative approach to creating strategic alliances that built trust and confidence with partners across the industry.  While at Elanco, Greg delivered multiple successful transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, strategic alliances, equity investments and licensing transactions.

He has dedicated his career to leading teams that deliver innovative solutions for customers with companies such as Johnson and Johnson, Intuitive Surgical and Enteromedics. Greg’s passion for innovation and pursuit of technologies that solve unmet needs, improve clinicians’ practices and enrich patient lives led him to launch numerous innovative products throughout his career. 

Outside of work, Greg enjoys spending quality time with his wife and young son, as well as their Beauceron, Poscoe. He is a private pilot, and the family enjoys taking trips around the eastern US to anywhere with a beach and warm weather.

Angy Guerrant

Senior Director of PMO and Regulatory Affairs

As Zomedica’s first employee, Angy has worn many hats at the company, all with a focus on optimizing resources to facilitate its commercial success. She is dedicated to keeping product innovations on track, within budget, and consistent with organizational goals in order to realize market launch objectives as quickly and profitably as possible. 

With nearly 20 years of experience, her career is rooted in successfully leading corporate business initiatives that directly impact the bottom line, as well as providing proactive and timely regulatory guidance throughout the planning and execution of product development.

During her tenure with MPI Research, she increased revenue by $800K per month through establishing and enforcing key policies while capturing scope changes that impacted budgets. She quickly earned a reputation for expertly sourcing and forecasting capacity over a diverse project portfolio, managing 544 research rooms and more than 700 employees across 1,800 active projects ranging in duration from months to years. She is an ace at all levels of procurement, including vendor evaluation and selection, and has served as the primary line of support for sales teams throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia Pacific regions.

Angy holds a Bachelor of Science in biomedical science from Western Michigan University and is a Certified Laboratory Animal Technologist. She has a passion for travel and new adventures that merge cultural experiences and historical sites, an interest discovered during her service in the Navy where she was engaged in humanitarian efforts across Europe. She spends her remaining downtime with her family and two pups, Otto and Knox.

Ashley Wood, PhD, 

Director of Research and Development 

Ashley joined Zomedica in 2019 to facilitate the development of BAW technology for use in veterinary medicine. She now leads the company’s research and development activities. Ashley’s expertise is in the areas of molecular biology, cell biology, imaging techniques and biochemistry.

Prior to her current role, Ashley was part of the R&D group at Swift Biosciences, where she was responsible for creating market viable products as the lead scientist in the advancement of next generation sequencing assays. Her responsibilities included assay development, bioinformatic analysis, and transfer to manufacturing.

Ashley also served as a research assistant professor and completed as postdoctoral research fellowship (awarded by the American Cancer Society) in the Cell & Molecular Biology department at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. She has co-authored several papers that have appeared in industry-prominent journals.

Ashley graduated with honors from Duke University with a degree in biochemistry, and earned a PhD in molecular biology from Johns Hopkins University. She is the mother of two young boys, and when she’s not transporting them to hockey, baseball, or other activities, she enjoys cooking, running, and spending time outdoors.
